Mental health and wellbeing

At St. Mewan, we believe in promoting good mental health and wellbeing for the whole school community. With the pressures of modern life, social media and the impact of the pandemic affecting us all, it is no wonder that we are seeing an increase in mental health problems with children.

At St. Mewan we place high importance on our mental health and wellbeing. Each child is encouraged to identify a trusted adult who they can speak to in times of worry or anxiety. This does not have to be their class teacher – it may be a previous class teacher or even a member of the office team – we are always available for our pupils.

Support for pupils

We have a graduated response to issues involving mental health and our staff are always available to talk to parents and carers about any concerns they may have about their child.

Pyramid of need

This image details some of the support and interventions we provide to support pupils with their mental health and wellbeing.

The school also has a team who are trained in supporting pupils with their wellbeing and can signpost parents and carers to professional support outside of the school if needed.
