St Mewan Nursery 2021-2022
Welcome to our Nursery information homepage. At St Mewan Nursery, we are very lucky to have a highly qualified and experienced staff team, who are dedicated to caring and supporting children at all stages of their learning and development. We provide sessions for children in their pre-reception year, for example our Nursery September 2021 children will all be due to start in their Reception class in September 2022.
If your child is due to start in Reception in September 2022 and you would like talk speak to someone, please feel free to telephone the main school on 01726 74887 and ask to speak to a member of the senior leadership team.
Alternatively, if you would like to arrange a visit to the school to see the Nursery setting and wider school please call and ask the office to arrange a call back from Mrs Walker who will arrange a convenient time to show you around.
We have a pre-admissions list for children wishing to attend from September or later, that we can add your child’s name to. This will mean we keep you updated with useful information over the coming months.
We are offering the option for the ‘30 hours free childcare’ Early Year’s funding that can include our Breakfast and After School Club facilities, subject to availability and eligibility. Further information and help with this is available if needed.
Our Nursery sessions will run from 9.00am – 12.00pm and 12.00pm – 3.00pm on term time days from September.
School dinners are available daily, subject to prior ordering and payment at the cost of £2.32 paid in cash on the day.
We aim to provide a calm, caring and supportive environment with varied fun and exciting activities, carefully planned to follow individual child’s interests and encourage the learning of key foundational skills for future life and learning. Making new friends, building confidence to have a go and trying new things are all a major part of a child settling and enjoying their time with us.
We follow the Early Year’s Foundation Stage framework and statutory requirements. Being a part of an Early Year’s Foundation Stage unit means that children become accustomed to the building and staff that work together within the unit making transitions to their St Mewan Reception class a very calm and smooth process.
Applications for a Reception class place must be made via the Cornwall Council school admissions process and we need to point out that there is no guarantee that attending our Nursery will result in your child/children being granted a place at St Mewan. The school admissions system runs independently of schools and we have no say or control over any part of this.
