Learning In Action

Year 2 Storm the School

On the afternoon of Tuesday 10th January, the whole school  was working quietly when suddenly a rabble of rowdy Year 2 pupils marched through the building disrupting everyone’s learning. Mrs Badger was pulled out of her office; classroom doors were flung open and pupils stared in disbelief as the suffragette movement made their feelings known.

Year 2 have been learning about Emily Davison and the suffragettes. They passionately marched around school demanding 'Votes for Women!'  The children were shocked to learn that women were not treated equally to men in the past and our girls couldn't imagine living in a time when they didn't have the same opportunities as the boys!

The St Mewan Suffragette Movement were very vocal and raised awareness of the importance of equality throughout the school.
