St Mewan Nursery 2017-2018
Welcome to our Nursery information homepage. At St Mewan Nursery we are very lucky to have a highly qualified and experienced staff team, dedicated to caring and supporting children at all stages of their learning and development. We provide sessions for children in their pre-reception year, for example our current children are all due to start in a Reception class in September 2018.
If your child is due to start in Reception in September next year and you would like to arrange to visit to discuss joining us in the next few months, please feel free to contact us either by email email@example.com or telephone the main school 01726 74887 and ask to speak to Corrin Ashley Cooper, Nursery Leader.
Alternatively, if you would like to visit in advance if you are thinking of your child starting with us in September 2018 in Nursery (due to start Reception in September 2019) please email or phone using the same information as above. We have a waiting list that we can add your child’s name on to and keep you updated with useful info over the coming months.
We are offering the option for the ‘30 hours free childcare’ Early Year’s funding that can include our Before School and After School Club facilities, subject to availability and eligibility. This enables families to access funded hours that can run from 8.00amuntil 5.50pm on term time days. Further information and help with this is available if needed.
Our nursery sessions run from 9.00am – 12.00pm and 12.00pm – 3.00pm on term time days. School dinners are available daily, subject to prior ordering and payment at the cost of £2.30 paid in cash direct to the school canteen via Nursery.
We aim to provide a calm, caring and supportive environment with varied fun and exciting activities, carefully planned to follow individual child’s interests and encourage the learning of key foundational skills for future life and learning. Making new friends, building confidence to have a go and try new things are all a major part of a child settling and enjoying their time with us. We follow the Early Year’s Foundation Stage framework and statutory requirements.
Being a part of an Early Year’s Foundation Stage unit means that children become accustomed to the building and staff that work together within the unit making transitions to their St Mewan Reception class a very calm and smooth process. Applications for a Reception class place must be made via the Cornwall Council school admissions process and we need to point out that there is no guarantee that attending our Nursery will result in your child/children being granted a place at St Mewan.
The school admissions system runs independently of schools and we have no say or control over any part of this. (Deadline dates for school applications for the current year to start in September 2018 in Reception is 15th January 2018). We advise that you submit your school place application as soon as possible.
