Curriculum

Please find the content of our school curriculum for all subject areas arranged below in year group documents, as well as our statement regarding our approach to delivering the curriculum. Further information relating to our curriculum is sent home to parents at or following the 'Meet the Teacher' sessions in September. If you have any questions regarding our curriculum please speak to the class teacher or make and appointment with Mr Towe or Mrs Badger via the office. You can speak to the office in person, call 01726 74887 or email secretary@st-mewansch.org

In addition to these curriculum documents:

Reading: Reading is encouraged across the school. Children progress through banded books from a range to suppliers to enable them to access a range of genres before becoming a free reader.

Phonics and Spelling: Teaching staff use the Letters and Sounds document supported by many other resources (such as Giant phonics and busythings.com) to teach phonics (primarily across KS1) before children progress to learning spelling rules and patterns using their phonics knowledge.

Mathematics: Pupils are taught using the Singapore approach to mathematics from Year 1 - Year 3 before progressing on to the Whiterose mastery scheme of work in Years 4-6.

If parents have any questions or require any information about our curriculum, please contact the office in the first instance asking them to forward your questions to Mrs Badger, our head of school, who is responsible for curriculum oversight.
